I only get my period every other month. When is the best time for me to become pregnant? My first two children were conceived without trying. Since my husband and I have been trying nothing is happening and I can’t seem to get pregnant.

Finding Fertile Days with Long Cycles
Question
Answer

Dear Michele,
To those trying to become pregnant, I suggest the following:
1. Find a Billings Ovulation Method instructor, (CANFP can direct you to one).
2. Learn from this instructor how to identify the so-called “fertile phase” in your menstrual cycle. This fertile phase will consist of a number of days of increasingly moist, wet, and finally slippery ( most important!) sensations caused by mucous originating in your cervix (the neck of the womb) coming down by gravitation and subsequently felt at your vulva (the area around your vaginal opening), which is extremely sensitive to these mucus sensations. Enhanced libido (desire for sexual relations) is often experienced around this time, too. Mother Nature knows what she’s doing!
3. Have loving relations with your husband during this fertile phase, as well as the one or two days following its cessation, and your chances of conceiving will be optimized, since that is the time closest to ovulation.
Good luck, Michele!
