Hi. My boyfriend and I were making out and stuff about a month ago, and we decided to have sex. He started to “enter” me, but then we stopped. Then, about a week and a half ago, we did the exact same thing. Now, I’m worried, because I have: nausea, headaches, constipation, mood swings, fatigue. I realize this could all be circumstantial, but I’m worried. I worry that I could be pregnant from that first time a month ago (even though I had my period since then) or from this last time. I know a woman can get pregnant from pre-ejaculatory fluid, but I’m wondering does every man have that fluid? Can you see it? Because I have never seen him have anything like that, but maybe you can’t see it? I’m very worried, please explain. Thank you.

Dear Kristi,
Yes, every man does have pre-ejaculatory fluid even though you may not see it. The pre ejaculatory fluid has a very high concentration of sperm.
I’d like to address that you say you had your period. A woman may have bleeding even though she is pregnant. Was your period a “true period” with a regular flow for you? If yes, then the first incident probably did not achieve a pregnancy.
We should also discuss the second incident since that would effect this cycle. The symptoms that you describe could be pregnancy symptoms but they could also be symptoms associated with PMS or stress.
The important thing to remember is that any genital contact at the time of fertility, even without ejaculation or penetration, can result in the sperm from the pre-ejaculatory fluid finding their way to the fallopian tubes and a pregnancy can result.
