It is with great pleasure that we introduce the newest member of the Executive Board of CANFP, Edie Sickman. Currently from the San Diego region, the statewide mandate of CANFP will benefit greatly from her experience living and working in both northern and southern California. A graduate of UCLA, with a BA in Economics, her early professional experience was in the corporate world. More recently, she has served as office manager at several parishes in the Dioceses of Sacramento and San Diego, and she is currently applying her administrative skills in service of the University of San Diego.
Edie recalls her first exposure to CANFP was while serving as a lay counselor at the Sacramento Life Center. “CANFP was invaluable with its resources and supportive information that we provided to the women and men who came to the clinic” As a strong advocate herself for natural family planning, she “appreciated having professional tools to be able to provide to the young women who had never been given an opportunity to learn about their fertility cycle.”
Edie brings a commitment to the core values of CANFP, which find concrete expression in her meticulous attention to detail, fruit of her administrative and human resource experience. Her extensive operational and management skills in such areas as event planning, budgeting, and relationship building, will complement the gifts of her dedicated colleagues on the Board.
The CANFP Board is pleased to welcome Edie to this leadership opportunity in the NFP community of California, and is grateful for her YES to the invitation: “After much prayer and discernment, I am eager to be considered for a CANFP Board position. I am excited to serve and to use the talents and gifts I’ve been given to further CANFP’s mission.”
