Bacterial Infection and Miscarriage
Question
Answer
Last Updated: June 17, 2013
Yes, a bacterial infection could possibly cause a miscarriage. It could also cause pre-term or premature labor. It is important that a woman receive early prenatal care, giving her doctor a good medical history. A woman needs to learn about her fertility and chart her cycles prior to getting pregnant. This will teach her about the naturally occurring changes in her cycles, and normal discharges. If an abnormal discharge occurs, she would note this and contact her doctor. An exam should follow to determine if an infection is present.
