I breastfed my baby for the first six months. She is now 7 1/2 months. I want to start trying for baby #2, but I have yet to have my period. How long will it take for me to get my period and my cycle back on track? Its been a month and a half since I nursed. Can I get pregnant now? How do I calculate or find out when I am ovulating or if I am?Thanks

Breastfeeding and Return to Cycles

One of the great advantages of using Natural Family Planning is that a couple can learn to identify the natural signs of fertility. With that information they plan their pregnancies. While breast feeding, ovulation is suppressed but the length of time the woman will not ovulate will vary. This would be a great opportunity for you and your husband to learn about natural family planning. You can be taught how to observe and record your signs of fertility and know exactly when ovulation is taking place. It is very exciting for a couple to know when they conceived their baby. I would encourage you to check our website to locate an instructor.
