Could Polyp Be Causing Miscarriage?

Could you please help me as I don’t know who I can ask?
I am 43 years old (have had no children before) and within a year, I have miscarried three times: at four weeks, four and a half weeks, and five and a half weeks.
I have a small polyp in my uterus. The doctor said it’s about the size of a lime seed. A few of the internet sites state “Many polyps are very small – a few millimeters in diameter and do not represent a compromise to reproductive capabilities. However, large polyps – or multiple polyps – can interfere with reproduction by causing infertility, or by increasing risks for miscarriage”.
My OB doctor insists that I have the polyp removed since I have a history of miscarriage. I would like to know if I have to do it since it’s small, or if it is a cause of the problem.

I agree with your obgyn physician. The polyp may have contributed to your miscarriages and it would be desirable to make the lining of your uterus as normal as possible to maximize your ability to carry a pregnancy to term. I believe most obgyn physicians would recommend removing a polyp in any patient, especially a woman desiring pregnancy. It is a minor, outpatient procedure.
