Hi!
My last period was January 10 then it stopped on Jan. 7. Then Jan. 31st I had my period again, then it stopped on Feb 7. I have irregular cycle. It’s hard to track if I am fertile or not. I had unprotected sex with my bf last feb 10,18,20,28. It’s already March 6 and I’m still waiting for my period. Am I pregnant? I don’t know if i was fertile one of those days as it’s hard to determine because of my irregular cycle. Do you think I should wait more until my period comes? I don’t know if I am pregnant. Please help me with this as I have no idea if I was fertile when I had sex with my bf. Thank you…Aene

Were These Fertile Days?

Dear Aene,
Your menstrual cycle in Jan. was 30 days long and ovulation was about two weeks before the period. You may have been fertile from about five days before and up to one day after ovulation. These are only estimates but you will be able to determine your fertile days by making observations using the Billings Ovulation Method (BOM). I made these estimates looking back at your cycle length and this is not helpful now, but learning the BOM can help you to interpret your symptoms of fertility so you know if you are fertile each day! The long irregular cycles can also be monitored.
As for determining the fertile days in the Feb. cycle it is only possible by making observations of vulval sensation as taught by the BOM. This allows the couple to choose to plan or postpone a pregnancy during the days of possible fertility. This knowledge will free you from the anxiety of not knowing. I suggest that you take a pregnancy test so you can start prenatal care or if negative contact a BOM teacher in your area. You will find the BOM is easy to use and is 99% successful for preventing pregnancy when used correctly. The couple relationship is enhanced because both are involved in the daily decisions of planning a family.
