Wondering if Vasectomy is Cause of my Symptoms?

Question

I had a vasectomy two years ago. Since then, I find that I sweat more around the testicles. I get more frequent irritations and must use more powder more frequently each day to keep it in check. I’ve used the topical aids given me by my urologist, but it still takes a lot to keep the irritations in check. Is this a byproduct of the vasectomy?
Also, I’ve had problems with blood in the semen. Doctor prescribed Laviquan antibiotic, but it seems it is continuing and will have to tell doctor during next appointment. Can this also be somehow linked to vasectomy?

Short answers: No; no.

Explanations:

1) The only plausible rationale connecting increased sweat production to a vasectomy would be if the latter somehow changed one’s hormonal milieu.…but hormone production after vasectomy has been studied pretty extensively. While there are occasionally some minor changes in the ratio of testosterone to estrogen, this has not been linked to any clinical symptoms.

2) blood in the semen (or “hematospermia”) is thought to be due to prostate or seminal vesicle inflammation. It will go away on its own, albeit physicians often prescribe either anti-inflammatories or antibiotics that concentrate well in the prostate (antibiotics in that category include the quinolones such as Levaquin or Cipro, sulfas such as Bactrim or Septra, and one penicillin called geocillin). Prostatitis is typically a stress-related disorder (physical, mental, emotional, relational or spiritual), so one should take a quick look at what is going on in one’s life and attempt resolution of the problem. Caffeine irritates the prostate and bladder and best be avoided.
