COLFS and NFP

Culture of Life Family Services (COLFS) was founded over thirteen years ago in San Diego as a holistic, Christ-centered, one hundred percent pro-family and one hundred percent pro-life ministry. The mission of COLFS is to honor God by fostering a culture of life while faithfully serving the community with truth and love, through the power of the Holy Spirit. Through services like natural family planning (NFP) and NaProTECHNOLOGY, we are able to teach and guide our communities in truth and in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic Church. With the help of our highly trained and professional staff of doctors and nurses, we are able to help foster healthy and happy families.

COLFS is unique in the sense that it is a full family medical practice and a crisis pregnancy ministry. All of our staff members genuinely care about the physical, psychological and spiritual health of each patient.

COLFS offers instruction in the Creighton Model of FertilityCare, a medically adapted form of NFP. Clients have the option of seeing the Creighton practitioners in person or via Skype, in the comfort of their homes. George Delgado, M.D. and Karen Saroki, M.D. are both natural planning medical consultants, trained in NaProTECHNOLOGY, a new women’s health science that provides treatments for infertility, endometriosis, polycystic ovarian disease, premenstrual syndrome and other reproductive health issues. All of the NaProTECHNOLOGY treatments are consistent with God’s design for human reproduction and in accord with all faith and philosophical systems.

For couples who do not want or do not need the Creighton Model because they are simply planning their families and do not have health issues, COLFS makes community referrals to excellent teachers in the mucus-only and sympto-thermal NFP methods.

NFP classes help couples to unravel the mystery of women’s cycles, to better understand their fertility and health. NFP offers more than just a way to space children. Saint John Paul II said, “the natural methods require and strengthens the harmony of the married couple, it helps and confirms the rediscovery of the marvelous gift of parenthood, it involves respect for nature and demands the responsibility of the individuals.”

Another saint of our modern time, Saint Teresa of Calcutta, addressed the importance of NFP and the family. She boldly proclaimed at the Cairo Conference on Population, “God has created a world big enough for all the lives He wishes to be born—we are too often afraid of the sacrifices we might have to make. But where there is love, there is always sacrifice. And when we love until it hurts, there is joy and peace.” And where there is joy and peace, marriage and the family may prosper and flourish. The great need to support the basic building block of society is why COLFS is unwaveringly passionate about nurturing and serving families in truth and love.

Dr. Delgado and COLFS founded Abortion Pill Reversal, to assist women who have taken the abortion pill, mifepristone (also known as RU486), have regretted their decision and seek to reverse the medical abortion process. This life saving ministry will become more and more important since 30-40% of all abortions in this country are accomplished with mifepristone instead of by surgery. More than 220 healthy babies have been born to mothers who have successfully reversed their medical abortions. Another 100, or so, are currently pregnant after successful reversal.
