Clomid Regimens
Question
I recently had an Ovarian Wedge Resection and resumed normal cycles immediately following the surgery. Two months later, my doctor prescribed clomid, cycle days 3 -5 50 mg each day in hopes of increasing my progesterone level at 7 days past peak. I didn’t ovulate. I am now waiting for my period to start after having a progesterone shot and he has prescribed 50 mg of clomid again this cycle but has changed it to days 5 – 7. I am wondering why he thinks that will work and can’t seem to find any information on the internet. Everybody else takes clomid for 5 days. Any thoughts?

Dear Ann,
There are many different regimens for using Clomid.
Since Clomid can dry up cervical mucus, using it for three days (rather than five) will lessen the adverse effect. Some women will respond better to using Clomid on days 3-7 rather than 5-9.
