Post Pill Side Effects

Question

I recently quit the pill. My husband and I decided to just go natural and see what happens. We havn’t necessarily been trying, but I am experiencing some strange side effects and think I may be pregnant. I have seen an increase in breast size, a greater amount of indigestion, increased libido, nausea, and a little discharge from my breasts. Now I havn’t yet taken a test to see if I am pregnant, but I plan to, but if I am not all these various side effects concern me. I have only taken the pill for approximately two years. I realize it is normal not to have a period for some time but all these side effects seem a bit unusual. Should I be concerned?
Also, what concerns should I have if I am pregnant so soon, and how could I prevent trouble with my pregnancy?

Dear Brenda,

Post pill symptoms can vary from woman to woman. Some of these symptoms are consistent with a pregnancy. You didn’t state when you discontinued the pill. We recommend waiting six cycles before trying to get pregnant only to allow your body to return to normal cycles. I would suggest doing a home pregnancy test and making an appointment with your doctor. This would confirm a pregnancy and give you the opportunity to discuss your concerns if you are not pregnant. If you are pregnant, congratulations!

For the future, you and your husband would greatly benefit from learning one of the Natural Methods listed on our web site. You will learn to identify the qualities of a healthy cycle, reliably achieve or avoid a pregnancy, plus many other advantages that will put you in the driver’s seat regarding your reproductive health.
