Can This Cause Pregnancy?

Question

Hi,
Well, I’m 21 years old. Just after four days of my last menses, I had a heavy petting with my boyfriend. We never had sex but he rubbed his genitals on mine and even with that, he was dry. But I’m still worried if that could get me pregnant. And lately, three months continuously, I have been getting late menses. It has been one month since this incident. Fortunately, I’m fine, without any symptoms, hopefully. And I want to ask what is that white, mucus kind of thing coming out when I urinate? Please help me.

Thanks

Ash

Dear Ash,

Thank you for your question. The answer is, yes you can get pregnant with genital contact and an incomplete act of intercourse. The pre-ejaculatory fluid has a very high concentration of sperm. If that fluid comes in contact with your cervical mucus which is present at the opening of the vagina, the sperm can find their way to the fallopian tubes and a pregnancy can result. You also mention that your menses have been late over the last three months. Tis could be due to stress as you are worried about becoming pregnant and the discharge you see.

I would encourage you and your boyfriend to have an open and honest dialogue as to the stress being caused by your heavy petting, Sexual intercourse was created and intended to celebrate married love. A covenant in marriage says “I belong to you, and you belong to me. We will be devoted to each other”. If you are not at this time able to make this covenant, your actions should change. As a boyfriend and girlfriend, getting to know each other is most important: communication, mutual respect for each other, self-control. Read books together on this subject. Also get in contact with a Fertility Care teacher in your area to learn to monitor your cycles and understand what the white discharge you are seeing means, and to understand your body, and how wonderfully it is made. Call CANFP at 1-877-33-CANFP if you have any further questions.
