Is this the bleeding pattern for polyp?

I had a child in 1993. Since 1997 I have spotting 7 to 10 days before menstruation. My gyn said it could be a polyp. From what I learned on the web, the signs of a polyp could be spotting BETWEEN periods, not regularly RIGHT BEFORE menstruation (as it occurs to me).
Could it just be a false alarm? Thank you much for your time.

Dear Nadia,
The spotting before menstruation in my opinion is more likely a sign of low progesterone during the Luteal phase (after ovulation). I would recommend doing a Hormone series through the Pope Paul VI Laboratory to evaluate this. I agree that a polyp is less likely, however an exam to rule out the possibility of a polyp and do a good history and physical would be a good idea.
