Medroxyprogesterone and unusual bleeding
Question
Last month I had my yearly check-up (pap test, etc) and was telling my Dr. about my periods being long (ten days to two weeks) along with HEAVY bleeding for a minimum of the first week and he has prescribed medroxyprogest 10 mg. This is nothing unusual and not the first time he has made notes over the last five years. I am 45 years old, have two children 24 and 21. I had a tubal after my second child (approx. two years after his birth) since he was a c-section. My daughter was two months pre-mature and I ended up having her at home by myself. Not the nicest memories of childbirth! I started my period yesterday and as directed by my Dr. took the first medroxyprogest 10 mg. pill. I stopped bleeding almost immediately but started bleeding this evening 36 hours later. I will call the Dr. to check with him but want your advice on this med as well as any other alternatives out there. I can’t wait till I go through the change of life….NO MORE PERIODS!!
