According to my bbt, cervical fluids and +opk (positive ovulation predictor kit) I ovulate every month, but my question is I have brown spotting before I get my period every month, it can last for three days to five days. My doctor said this is normal and that it is leftover blood from the previous month. I’ve been reading that this may be a sign of low progesterone. Is that true?

Pre-Menstrual Brown Bleeding

Dear Melissa,
Premenstrual spotting may be a sign of inadequate functioning of fertility hormones, particularly if accompanied by a short luteal phase. It might help you to consult Marilyn Shannon’s book Fertility,Cycles and Nutrition. She advises that improved nutrition has been found to be helpful in rebalancing hormones and eliminating spotting and offers other insights and possible remedies. Of course, consulting an NFP teacher in your area offers the benefit of personalized interpretation of your fertiity signs.
