Where Do We Begin?

Me and my husband have two kids, eight and five. We have been trying to get pregnant for two and half years. We are both in pretty good health. He was in car accident in March this year and thinks it is him because of the accident. How do we get tested? Is it free or is it expensive? We really want another child. I am 26 and he is 24. Please help!

If the infertility problem arose before the car accident, it probably will not be related to the accident. It would also depend if there was any genital injury. Please note that male fertility can also be compromised by things such as alcohol, tobacco, and medication use. Sperm counts and motility issues can also be addressed, but the results may vary depending on the type of analysis used. Woman issues can include menstrual irregularities, infections. I don’t know of any free evaluations and cost may depend on insurance coverage. Another issue to address might simply be timing (i.e. intercourse around conception).
