I recently had a surgery to remove an ovary (right one) because of a cyst on my right ovary. The doctor said that the cyst had grown to large size and twisted the blood vessels connected to the ovary. So there is no blood supply and so it’s grown to a size of a small melon. They had to remove it. Now, my question is, what are the complications I’m going to face due to this surgery, and what are my chances of getting pregnant?

The oopherectomy surgery generally goes well. If the surgery itself did not have any complications (bladder or colon damage), then the recovery usually does too, but sometimes there can be adhesions (scarring) internally. The important thing to prevent this and to speed recovery is to eat an unprocessed diet (vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, legumes, grains), and get up and exercising as soon as possible (aerobic and strengthening).
Also, the chances of getting pregnant are usually not affected. That is the advantage of having 2 ovaries, just in case one is lost. As always, fertility can be greatly improved by following the instructions for Natural Family Planning, which is explained in detail at this website.
