Is There Hope After Three Miscarriages?

Question

Dear Experts;
I am 33 years old.I have been trying to get pregnant for four years. After trying for 14 months, I was aboutĀ five weeks pregnant and then I ended up with a miscarriage. Then one year later, I was pregnant again. This time I called my Dr. right away and I went in to have my blood test. The results: my Estradiol level 138pg/ml; HCG quant 906H; Progesterone level 3.3ng/mL. My Dr. told me, I had a very low level progesterone. That was why I was unable to keep that pregnancy. Then she gave me a precription for Prometrium (200mg). AboutĀ three months later, I was pregnant again. This time I was on vacation, I forgot to bring medication with me and besides, I did not know I was pregnant. This pregnancy was about eight weeks. Then, I had the same symptom of spotting, cramping and having a tissue passed while I was using toilet, same as I had before. Then I knew I was pregnant but it was too late. That was my story for the last three miscarriages. My last miscarriage was aboutĀ nine months now. For the last few months, my cycles are getting longer up to 40 days. I don’t seem to ovualate until the day I am supposed to have period. Besides, my postovulatory time is shorter. (because I have been monitoring my BBT). Can you please let me know what is wrong with my cycles? Has taking Prometrium made the cycles longer? I have an appointment with my Dr. soon. I am thinking to ask him about taking Clomid or birth control pills to change my cycles for at leastĀ three months and then try to get pregnant again. Please let me know what I should do or what I should ask my Dr. IĀ really want to have kid. Since I hadĀ three miscarriages, am IĀ able to get pregnant again? I am stressed and so worried with my cycles lately. Please help me, What can I do now? What is your advice? I thank you so much for reading my story. I really appreciate your time.

I am so sorry for what you have had to endure with the miscarriages. I would strongly recommend that you contact Fertility Care Centers of America. They will be able to refer you to a Certified Practitioner of the Ovulation Method Creighton Model. The Ovulation Method Creighton Model can give you the opportunity to chart the presence or absence of a very characteristic mucus discharge which is essential to fertility. This system will also reflect abnormalities which may indicate higher risk for miscarriage. There are NaPro Technology Doctors who can assist in obtaining appropriate lab tests to be done based on the womanā€™s menstrual cycle. This manner of testing hormones is much more reliable and provides better accuracy so that Doctors may give appropriate treatment. One method of treating low progesterone in pregnancy is through the use of natural Progesterone (a compounded form), known to be absorbed by the body much more efficiently and helps sustain the pregnancy. But it must be taken at the correct time in the cycle. This is true of the Prometrium you have been prescribed as well.

I believe you are ovulating because you have achieved pregnancies. In my opinion Clomid and the Birth Control Pill would not be my solution. I recommend you begin charting your menstrual cycles through the use of the Ovulation Method Creighton Model for three months and with the assistance of a Certified Fertility Care Practitioner (CFCP) and a NaPro Technology Doctor, you will obtain more knowledge regarding your menstrual cycles, evaluation and treatment, and a better out come in obtaining a full term pregnancy. For more information please contact CANFP at 1 877-332-2637.

Best of Luck!
