Low Progesterone
Question
I currently have had one successful pregnancy (15 mos old). I had a low progesterone level (a little over 1 on day 21), but supplemented with Prometrium 100mgs and was able to sustain a normal pregnancy. I am now trying to get pregnant again and have done 2 rounds of clomid and just had a day 21 level. It was 0.96. What could be the cause of this and what therapy would you recommend for such a low level?

Progesterone is formed by the corpus luteum. However, sometimes the corpus luteum does not produce sufficient levels. Therefore, therapy for low progesterone includes supplementation. Ideally the best way to administer would be through an intramuscular injection twice a week. Levels would then be followed every two weeks. This can then help maintain a pregnancy.
