Progesterone and trying to conceive
Question
I have been trying to conceive for over a year. Periods were regular (28-35 days). In February, just around the time I thought I was going to ovulate, I had a couple of days of spotting followed by a very heavy period. Since then, I’ve been spotting on and off, a few days before my schedule period, and then heavy flow afterwards… Last month I bled for almost 2 weeks. Now, I’ve been spotting on and off for a couple of weeks (sometimes brown, sometimes red). I keep thinking the real flow will start but it doesn’t seem to. I haven’t the foggiest idea when “day one” is. My physician prescribed 10 days of progesterone to kick-start my cycle. I started bleeding lightly a few days into it, but again, nothing that I would call a “period”. Then it stopped for a day, and started again.
Their suggestion was to stop taking the progesterone if my period started, and then go for Day 3 tests and day 21 tests so we can try and figure out whether I’m ovulating. Problem is, I am having a hard time telling the difference between bleeding and spotting. So I can’t figure out when to go for the tests or whether to keep taking the progesterone…
Any advice?
