Over the course of a week my temperature skyrocketed to 98.2 F, dropped to 97.1 and then is back up at 98 F. I have never had a pattern like this, and could very likely be pregnant, but is that temp shift a sign? The highest shift I have ever had is up to 97.8 F, and that was while I was planning my wedding, and had high stress levels. Any tips on reading this? I know that I had a full thermal shift, so must have ovulated.
Thanks!

It is important to know your typical baseline temperature prior to temperature shift in your past cycles so I can make a proper assessment. You appear to have this information, but neglected to provide it. In general, 98.2 degrees F is not considered a very high temp for the luteal phase, though it may be for you. The average thermal shift is generally about .4 degrees F. The length of the high temperature phase is relatively constant in women of child bearing age, about 12-14 days. Eighteen or more high temps is a pretty good indication of pregnancy. A secondary rise in temperatures after 13-14 high temps (or “spike”) which establishes secondary high phase, gives the appearance of a triphasic temperature pattern. This correlates well with a diagnosis of pregnancy and the very high temps usually continue until just before delivery when they slowly drop.
