Why Aren’t I Pregnant?

Hi, my name is Rosa. I’m 17 years old and I weigh 260 Pounds. I’ve been having sex with my husband for almost two years now and sometimes I wonder– why haven’t I gotten pregnant??? This really worries me. If you could please send me some information on what could be the cause of why I haven’t got pregnant. I know it can’t be him because he already had two children from his other marriage.

Dear Rosa,
There can be many causes for failure to conceive involving either or both the woman or the man, regardless of past history. Oftentimes, NFP records can give clues to some situations or conditions causing the problem; and in cases of marginal fertility sometimes simple nutritional and lifestyle changes coupled with timing of intercourse for the most fertile times can help achieve pregnancy. If medical consultation is required, NFP charts can help your doctor with your care. We would encourage you to consult the CANFP online directory for an NFP instructor nearest you who can help you learn to observe, chart, and interpret your fertility signs and advise you on achieving pregnancy, including referral to a supportive physician if necessary.
