Sacrifice by Natalie Eansor, 16

Should I sacrifice getting good grades in order to hang out with my friends? Should I sacrifice my relationship with God in order to sleep in and avoid Church at all costs? Should I sacrifice my religious beliefs in order to fit in? Should I? We are constantly sacrificing amazing things, to do the easier option. Sacrificing things, whether it be reputations, beliefs, or grades, is common with kids in High School. Should I make a sacrifice in order to be cool? We need to think about the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus made for us. He did not care that people were doubting and criticizinghim. He died for our sins, so we could be saved. When thinking of the sacrifices we are going to make we need to keep in mind Jesus’s mentality. He trusted in God his Father and did not let others influence his decision to save us. We all sacrifice in order to make our lives better and easier, we need to think about how our sacrifices can help others. Jesus sacrificed so that we could have eternal life, it is important to think of the sacrifices Jesus made and the sacrifices characters in the Bible made to please and trust in God. We all are blessed to live and to have friends, family and the creator of everything as our Father! When we make sacrifices I personally need to remember that I am a child of God, and even if I mess up He still loves me, but I need to also remember that I should think of how Jesus would act in this situation and try to emanate Him. Sacrifices are made everyday, some good some bad, I personally wish I could always make sacrifices to benefit others, but sometimes my selfish wants get in the way and cloud my judgement. God loves us no matter what we do, but some people abuse that, they make bad sacrifices and decisions, solely because they know God will always love, protect and love them. This is the wrong way to treat the omnibenevolence of God, we should not take advantage of the goodness and forgiveness of God, but act as children of God. We instead should strive to make God proud of the actions and person we become. We need to make our lives down here count for something, that helps others, instead of just getting by doing the bare minimum.
