Attending the HV50 Conference in July 2018 has given me occasion to reflect on my 22 years as a member of CANFP and what it has meant to me. Not only was I strengthened and enriched at the HV50 Conference but I was also able to visit with old friends and colleagues with whom I have been able to stay connected through CANFP. Some of these friends I met at my very first CANFP Conference in 1996, to which I came not knowing anyone, but with every confidence that I would be warmly welcomed. Within a couple of years of attending my first CANFP Conference I was trained to become a certified NFP Instructor, and the bonds I have shared with my fellow practitioners have only become stronger. Through subsequent CANFP Conferences, Archdiocesan meetings, regional get-togethers, and NFP Enrichment Classes, I have been so blessed to maintain my ties with both the English speaking and Spanish speaking NFP communities. CANFP has contributed greatly to this ongoing growth by presenting and hosting many of these classes and events, in addition to the many CANFP Conferences held in different areas of our beautiful Golden State through the years. The 50th Anniversary of Humanae Vitae, and all that this momentous occasion signifies, especially with the Canonization of Pope Paul VI, is the perfect chance for me to express my gratitude. CANFP has been with me at every step: thanks!

How I Became a Teacher of NaProTechnology
I have always wanted to be a mother and dreamed of being in the center of a loving household filled with many children and a wonderful husband. I found the wonderful husband, but the children just didn’t seem to come along like I had hoped. To never conceive and bear...
Like NFP Because I Am Selfish
You can’t tell that I’m selfish, right? (I hope you can’t!) Fortunately, God could tell that I was selfish, so he gave me NFP. And I am glad he did, because I would be even more selfish if I didn’t have NFP! (I don’t think that #NFPisfortheSelfish will take off...
The Day Started Out Like Any Other
On March 8, 2017 I went to work like I always had. It was a very typical day until I was nearing the end of my workday. I was setting up for the last patient of the day, when suddenly I realized something was terribly wrong. Confused, and having no...
NFP: Part of My Family/Faith Journey
With the exception of Christmas Mass, religion was not a part of my upbringing. As a young adult, I gravitated towards eastern philosophies of Taoism, Hinduism and Buddhism. I then made my way towards agnostic beliefs, leaning more towards atheism. Oddly enough, throughout all of this, I was always fascinated...
How NFP Has Blessed My Marriage And Strengthened My Walk With God During This Struggle Called Life
“The life of man upon earth is warfare.’ So said Job many centuries ago. There are still some easygoing individuals unaware of this fact” St. Josemaria Escriva I read a fascinating article a while ago about happiness. It seems the least happy times for most people are in their 40’s—with...
The Long and Winding Road: Becoming an NFP Only Physician
As far as I could remember, I have always seen myself as a feminist. I was all about women empowerment and women’s rights, which included advocating the right to take fertility into one’s own hands. Independence was all about moving through, in and around society without the “baggage” of kids...
CANFP: Personal ~ Committed ~ Connected ~ Caring
We believe in NFP and want to help bring the opportunity to others and help raise awareness of what NFP is and what it is not. We believe in and have experienced the benefits of NFP. It’s natural and does not harm the body; it raises awareness of and appreciation...
NFP Has Been a Blessing
Practicing NFP as an unmarried, 24-year-old woman has been one of the greatest blessings of my early twenties. I wouldn’t describe myself as a very tenacious person. I am not motivated to complete tasks simply from the satisfaction of checking them off my list. My motivation comes from being able...
