I am 35 years old. I was on the pill for 16 years. I have been off for three months (I went off in hopes to start a family). Since going off I have been having problems with dizziness and nausea (outside of my cycle). Is there something I can take to help with this? Example: Today I am dizzy and am approximately three weeks from my cycle. Isn’t this too far from the start of my cycle for PMS to be a factor? Thank You.

Dear Tricia,
Depending on the type of BCP you used and the 16 years that you were on it, it may take your body as long as a year before the artificial hormones no longer suppress ovulation and normal function.
In the meantime I would suggest you take good care of your body: eat healthily, exercise, take some vitamins and contact a natural family planning teacher who will teach you to recognize when you are fertile and infertile on any given day and give you empowering information about your reproductive health.
Look on this website for a teacher in your area.
Good luck to you.
