I THINK I Only Used Infertile Days

I am 19 years old and I usually have a pretty regular cycle, lasting 29 days. The last period I had was on December 25th and now I am officially one week late. Â I had unprotected sex several times before my fertile days (these days I consider fertile are 4 days before the day I’m supposed to ovulate and the day I ovulate.) Â However, I had sex one time, either 3 or 4 days before my ovulation day. I used very little protection, and slightly inaccurately; it was some type of spermicide ovul (I’m not sure what it was called) and after insertion, I didn’t wait the full 10 minutes to begin having sex. Yes, I’ve had lots of unprotected sex after the day I ovulated. I was supposed to get my period January 22nd. Usually I can tell a week before I get my period that it’s coming soon. I haven’t been getting those “pre-cramps” as I call them. Monday I took an early detection pregnancy test, and it came up negative. I took another one on Wednesday that was also negative. Is it possible that for some reason my cycle was supposed to change this month and my ovulation day changed, so I got pregnant AFTER the day I THOUGHT I was ovulating?

First of all, it’s always possible for a woman to get pregnant on the day after ovulation even when spermicide or a condom is used. And, yes, it is true that every cycle will not be the same number of days each month. So because of that you can’t always say that you are infertile prior to 4 days before you ovulate every cycle.
It is also very possible, that because you have had lots of unprotected sex, that you may be unable to get pregnant.
Knowing about one’s cycle and the events that occur each month is an art that many women have learned. It would be to your advantage to learn this art.
