Chunky Seminal Fluid

Question

Dear Sirs,
I have recently gotten into a relationship with a woman after not having any sexual relations since my divorce nearly seven years ago. My girlfriend and I have had sex however she sometimes gets yeast infections after we have sex. She claims she has never had any problems in the past and I can make the same claim. In our most recent lovemaking she had me ejaculate outside her vagina for fear of having to go through another yeast infection. She commented on how thick and chunky my sperm was and she had never seen anything like it. I cannot figure out why it would be like this and the only thing I could think of that had changed in my life involving my penis was that I had a vasecctomy.

Is there any corelation or to the best of your knowledge should I be exploring other possibilities?

Stephen

Stephen asks two questions: 1) Is yeast vaginitis in a lady caused by intercourse and 2) why would a man’s ejaculate become thick and “lumpy”?

Yeast vaginitis is not a sexually transmitted disease; trichomoniasis vaginitis is. If there is a question about which is going on I would have the lady see her gynecologist to check it out. But the short answer is that men do not typically cause a yeast vaginitis.

Thick and/or discolored (opaque or yellow) ejaculate is usually a sign of prostatitis or prostate inflammation. The lumpy material is either mucus or clumps of white blood cells. This is harmless and, if not causing symptoms in the male, need not be treated. Occasionally it may interfere with sperm function and contribute to an infertility problem so in that instance I would treat the gentleman (even if he did not have any symptoms). It does not cause a problem in the lady (e.g., vaginitis).
